Being a graduate Digital Social Media student, I have had great opportunities to explore further into the digital ecosystem and apply what I’m learning in the classroom in real life situations. By doing research, creating content and expanding my horizons, I have learned new skills and enhanced old ones.
The Effects of Like Counts on Social Behavior
- Researched the “pre and post” era of the Like feature on Facebook and Instagram.
- Analyzed the opportunities and implications of removing the Like button and its affect on social behavior online.
- Explored a case study on Facebook and Instagram removing their Like feature.
Social Media Analysis
- Learned: attention to detail, data organization, creation of boolean phrases, data analysis
- Measured real-time data in 2016 and 2018 to analyze marketing strategy, conversations and trends over time
- Used Crimson Hexagon social media analytics tool to gather data from news outlets, Twitter, Reddit, and other social platforms.
Social Media Campaign/ Launch Strategy
- Learned: Elevator pitching, how to design an effective social media campaign, team work and creation of launch strategy.
- Developed social media campaign to launch fitness app for women.
- Delivered elevator pitch to “investors” and received feedback to enhance our campaign.
