My Career Journey

The only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle.

Steve Jobs

From a very young age, I enjoyed numbers and content creation. I took this love for numbers and analytics a step further and pursued my Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from The University of Texas at Dallas. I enjoyed how raw data could explain the business strategy, give insights into revenue, etc. Studying this degree in the classroom strengthened my love for the numerical side of business as it sets the foundation for revenue and expenses. I continued this interest as I started my first full time position at a “Big  Four” accounting firm, Ernst & Young. This was a pivotal point in my career. Working in the industry and learning my way around filing taxes pushed me to crave creativity. I soon started missing the creative freedom I always appreciated. To pursue my love for marketing and digital media, I applied for graduate school while I was working. I decided I needed to run after my dreams and fulfill my creative side.

Starting my Masters of Science in Digital Social Media at the University of Southern California in fall 2019 was a blessing and an eye-opener. It provided me with an outlet to learn and absorb skills in content strategy, marketing, and social media analytics. By getting hands on experience through my courses and internships in the entertainment industry, I am continuing to embrace creative independence while learning to adapt to a quickly changing industry.
